Enjoy Your Business

by Ed Martin

Most of the articles and blogs I read deal with problems and troubles people have with starting and running their businesses. Or there are articles about how to improve yourself and how you work. Find ways to work harder, be bigger, grow faster. Change this, do that. Seems like the whole Internet is build around this.

Good stuff for sure, but don’t you need a break from it all once in a while? Sometimes you have to just sit back and enjoy what you are doing right now. Don’t worry about what tomorrow might bring or what you are going to have to do. Take a moment to relax and focus on what you are doing right now. Just be in the present. Enjoy it.

Strangely enough, I started thinking about this after watching my favorite business show, Better Off Ted. I know it’s not the best thing on TV or the funniest but I like it. The warped yet accurate look it takes at work and cubicle life in a mega-company like Veridian Dynamics is spot on. Been there and done that and it’s all true. Skip The Office and give Ted a watch. It’s good for guaranteed LOL moment or two each week. Take a look at Veronica teaching how to be in the present moment.

Anyway, now that the holidays are over and tax season hasn’t really started, take a moment to reflect on all the good things that come with your running business. Go ahead schedule yourself a little downtime just to sit back and enjoy what you do. Make it a regular break. That’s one of the reasons you started your business in the first place isn’t it.
